The third chapter "Intellectuals" by Paul Johnson is about Karl Marx. Marx, of course, was the primary creator of "Marxism" -- the lifting of communism out of its historical Christian roots and its apotheosis into a religion unto itself. Said religion soon became history's most effective "death cult", resulting in well over 100 million human murders.  Pallas/Ethics Apollonian: Pallas sextile Sun and ruled by Jupiter and Neptune (both in aspect to Sun). Dionysian: Pallas conjunct Pluto and co-ruled by Neptune which is square Pluto. The Dionysian/authoritarian side is a bit stronger here, but the Apollonian vectors are non-trivial. On "The Axis of Good and Evil" this puts Marx into the "Statist" (authoritarian) category, the most potentially dangerous one. Venus/Second-House/Economics Capitalist: North Node in Second House. Collectivist: Venus quincunx Neptune. This configuration is shocking to anyone unaware of how the public Marx differed from the private Marx. The capitalist and collectivist vectors are both very strong, and roughly equal in strength, a situation which in most cases corresponds with right-wing capitalists! Marx actually separated these energies in himself, saving the collectivist impulse for his public activities (writing, organizing) and the capitalist impulses for his private life (he was extremely concerned with "one-upping" the high-society types he liked to mingle with, causing him to spend a great deal of Friedrich Engels' money). Marx was born six hours before a solar eclipse in Taurus (the sign of money). This perhaps suggests a truly exaggerated and/or "unreal" quality towards finances. On top of this, Gary North opines that Marx's output dropped to near-nothing in the later part of his life because he slowly came to see that his own economic theories were wrong. Moon/Fourth-House/Culture Conservative: Moon conjunct North Node. Liberal: Neptune quincunx Venus (ruler of Moon) and Mercury (ruler of Fourth House). This is a mixed signature, with the "conservative" vector probably stronger than the "liberal" vector. Mixed signatures in culture tend to lean Left towards the desire to reform/dissolve the culture. However, a Dionysian Pallas signature added to a conservative culture vector tends to indicate the strong possibility of racism or other knee-jerk discrimination. Marx was deeply racist (he and Engels publicly advocated genocide), anti-Semitic (despite being born to a Jewish family), and contemptuous of the working class (yes, despite his claim to be their champion). We have to look for the Bloodbath Formula. Marx's philosophy contributed to well over a hundred million deaths in the 20th century. He and Engels were the first intellectuals to espouse the idea of "scientific genocide" as a means of improving the human race. And Marx actually killed his own offspring by refusing to look for work to pay for family support when the money-spigot from Engels run low. 1. Sun semisquare and contraparallel Pluto. Statist + mixed capitalist + mixed culture + Bloodbath ... where have we seen this combination? Oh yes. In the chart of Adolf Hitler. What the chart suggests is not so much a dedicated exponent of an ideological position as an "ideological opportunist", one who is "making shit up" as he goes along. Both Paul Johnson and Gary North, who have studied Marx's work in detail, have pointed out an "incoherent" quality in Marx's overall body of work. Late Balsamic Moon: A man collapsing into himself? This in combination with the Bloodbath Formula may help explain why Marx from his youth was obsessed with death, destruction, and the end of the world. This obsession formed the kernel around which Marxism grew. Pallas conjunct/contraparallel Saturn: giving form to one's ethics, as it were. This bisects the Second House Sun - Eleventh House Jupiter trine suggesting that the product of said ethics involve money and populism. MC parallel Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune: public dreams of hope and change. Mars in Cancer on the Sixth ("workers of the world") trine Saturn/Pluto ("unite"/solidify power) and quincunx Uranus at MC (and revolt). While most persons born under such "evil" charts do not realize their destructive potential, it is my experience that all extremely destructive persons are born with such charts.
